Zara Manning was tired of her mother meddling into her personal life, so she decided to shut her up once and for all. When her mother called on Thanksgiving, Zara let it slip she’d found a new love and everything was great, only it was a lie and now she has to find someone willing to go along with her façade or risk being exposed for Christmas.
LED TO HER FINDING THE LOVE OF HER DREAMS.
Tired of blind dates, Santana Jerome decided to focus on her career until a ride on the subway changed her mind. Throwing caution to the wind, she takes a chance and finds love comes when one least expect it and in a package she never saw coming.
COULD IT BE POSSIBLE? LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
About This Christmas is a heart-warming tale of two women’s journey and their willingness to step outside their comfort zone and believe in the unexpected. In short, love always has a way of making things happen.
“I can’t wait to meet this new girlfriend of yours.”
Zara rolled her eyes. She’d really stepped in it. She lied to her mother about moving on from Ryan and now she had to face the music.
“Where did you two meet?”
“Mom, I really can’t talk right now. I’ll see you when you get here for Christmas in a few weeks.” Zara said and hoped the interrogation would end. No such luck. Her mother kept talking for another ten minutes and all she did was listen. There was no need in shoving her foot further down her throat. The horrible truth would come out soon enough unless she found someone to pretend for the four days her family would be visiting for the holidays.
“All I want is for my daughter to be happy.”
“What you want is for me to get married like the rest of the gang.” Zara said and laughed nervously. She had thought she would have been married by Christmas this year. Wrong. Her long-time girlfriend, Ryan Lattimore had other plans. Or rather she did. They weren’t ready for marriage, nor was she interested in keeping their dying relationship afloat.
“Is it so wrong for a mother to want her daughter to meet someone and fall in love? You’re a beautiful girl, Zara and anyone would be happy to snatch you up and make an honest woman out of you.” Olivia Manning said to her eldest daughter. Her two older sons, Warren and Arrington were already married. And younger sister, Damari had married last year. “I just hoped you would have walked down the aisle by now.”
“Ryan is not ready to married, Mom.”
Olivia scoffed. “I find that hard to believe. She’s been waiting on you to get your act together.”
“She told me she had asked and you told her you weren’t in any position to get married.” Olivia explained. “How could you not be ready? You and Ryan have been dating for the last four years and she’s such a sweetheart. I would have loved to have her in the family.”
Zara swallowed the comment dangling on the tip of her tongue. It wouldn’t win her any points with her mother. “Mom, I really need to get going.”
“Okay, Zara. I know that tone.”
“What tone?” Zara asked.
“The one that tells me I’m asking too many questions about your personal life,” Olivia stated. “I guess I won’t take up any more of your time.”
“I’m sorry,” Zara apologized. “I have so much on my plate, Mom. I’m hosting this year’s Christmas and I want everything to be perfect.”
“Everything will be fine. There’s no need in you being a perfectionist.”
“Thanks.” Zara ended the call and stared at the empty space she had sectioned off for the tree. The tree she had yet to purchase. She hadn’t decorated or gotten any Christmas gifts and she had five weeks to get ready. “Damn my life.”
